Low blood sugar makes you less forgiving.


A University of Kentucky study by social psychologist C. Nathan DeWall linked symptoms of Type-2 diabetes to lower levels of forgiveness. It was published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences.

The researchers found a positive correlation between diabetic symptoms and a tendency to be unforgiving in both real and hypothetical situations.

Their findings measured correlation rather than causation, but DeWall and his colleagues point to low blood glucose levels as the likely trigger for resentful attitudes.

People with Type-2 diabetes have a reduced ability to efficiently process glucose, which is known to affect their ability to exert self-control.
