In Missouri it is now illegal for teachers to be Facebook friends with students.


Missouri is the first state to prohibit social networking between students and teachers.

Missouri Senate Bill 54, also called the Amy Hestir Student Protection Act, was signed by the governor last week.

It prohibits teachers and students from connecting and communicating in private on any web site, including Facebook friending and Twitter direct messages.
