Russell Burt was ordered to stop taking his pet owls for walks in Plympton.


Burt, 74, who is licensed to keep owls, has enjoyed taking his pets on walks – one at a time – for nine years.

He has seven birds of prey – Ben, a Bengal eagle owl, Spot, an African spotted eagle owl, Mika, a tawny owl he rescued after a road accident, an African white-faced scops owl called Scoppy and three barn owls, Misty, Chas and Scruff.

Council officials ordered him to stop for health and safety reasons.
