What are the odds of a collision between an asteroid and our planet?

The chance of an impact by a similar size asteroid, about 150 feet in diameter, somewhere on Earth this century is about 30%.

The chance of a large asteroid impacting the earth with about the same energy as all the explosives used in WWII is 1%. About the same risk as dying in a car accident.

The likelihood of a 3,000-foot-wide asteroid impacting earth, which would likely end human civilization altogether is calculated to be about 0.001%. Similar to the risk that you will die in an earthquake.
