Tickets are £8 to not see invisible art, such as Friedman's erased Playboy Centerfold, at the Hayward Gallery.


Invisible Art brings together works from the past half century that explore ideas related to the invisible and the hidden.

The exhibition includes work by some of the most important artists of our time, including Yves Klein, Andy Warhol, Yoko Ono and Maurizio Cattelan, as well as younger artists who have expanded on their legacy.

There will be a blank sheet of paper that an artist stared at for 1,000 hours over a period of five years, and traces of a movie that was shot without film in the camera.

Other art for visitors to not see includes invisible ink drawings by Gianni Motti and an empty plinth where Warhol briefly stood.

One room will have four walls with apparently blank pieces of paper on them.

From the amusing to the philosophical, there are works you can observe and others you can take part in, such as Jeppe Hein's Invisible Labyrinth.

From Yves Klein's utopian plans for an 'architecture of air' to Robert Barry's Energy Field (AM 130 KHz) from 1968 - which encourages a heightened awareness of the physical context of the gallery- this exhibition spans diverse aesthetic practices and concerns.
