Sperm whale mothers form a babysitting circle to look after the calves while their own mothers dive deep for food.


Only adult sperm whales are able dive into deep waters to hunt for squid so babysitting mums look after the kids.

The mothers form a babysitting circle, taking turns watching over other calves and going hunting themselves.

The babysitters even allowed the other mums' calves to nurse if they were hungry.
