Wearing MIT's AGNES suit mimics the effects of age so you can appreciate the difficulties of being old.


The MIT Age Lab designed the AGNES (Age Gain Now Empathy Suit) to mimic the physical restrictions of old age.

A plastic inner harness and elastic bands attached to the feet and hands imitate the movement limitations created by spinal problems, while foam wrist, knee and neck pads simulate the symptoms of arthritis.

Elastic straps reduce head movement and stretching ability, shoes softened with special spongy soles make stepping down stairs difficult.

Yellow goggles obscure vision and thick gloves make gripping and feeling objects a challenge.
